FOBP held our National Border Security
Conference & Luncheon honoring Judge Ted Poe, Member of Congress. We
have provided photos of the January 20, 2007 event below, which was
held in San Diego, CA.
Congressman Poe was presented this inaugural award for his
outspokenness on border security and illegal immigration, his
support of law enforcement and his leading efforts to exonerate and
pardon convicted El Paso Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose
Compean. When FOBP learns new but verifiable information, Mr. Poe
responds immediately.
"I am proud to receive this award," said Congressman Poe. "One of my
priorities in Congress has been to draw attention to the lawlessness
on the border and the fight our border agents and border sheriffs
fight each and every day. We must keep attention on our borders and
on our nation's lack of a realistic border protection policy. It's
chaos when our government seems to be more concerned about illegals
and drug dealers than they are about America and Americans."
On behalf of our Board of Directors I want to thank Judge Ted Poe,
Member of Congress, as well as San Diego Congressman Brian Bilbray,
State Assemblyman Joel Anderson, and the many representatives of San
Diego's elected community and law enforcement for their attendence.
On a personal note, I want to thank Chief Patrol Agent Bill King,
USBP Retired, for allowing us to honor his leadership and service to
our nation in naming our award to a law enforcement representative
after him.
Additionally, FOBP also honored the USBP's San Diego Sector as our
Sector of the Year Award recipient, and recently retired Assistant
Chief Patrol Agent Ken Wilson who was being honored with the Chief
Patrol Agent Bill King Leadership Award. Representatives from SDC
and A-Chief Wilson were unable to attend.
