At FOBP, we believe it is important for donors and recipients to know the background of FOBP personnel who are or may assist them.  Biographies of other FOBP personnel may be viewed by selecting them from the list on the right.

Scott James, Director - At-Large

Scott James was born and raised in the State of Wisconsin. After high school he attended the University of Wisconsin - Washington County, majoring in Criminal Justice and then the University of Stevens Point where he recieved his Bachelor of Science degree in PreLaw. After college he relocated to southeastern Missouri and worked for 1 1/2 years at the Scott City (MO.) Police Department.

Mr. James joined the U.S. Border Patrol in January, 1998 and spent the next 8+ years on the U.S.-Mexico border in Nogales, AZ as a Senior Patrol Agent. While he spent the vast majority of his time on the line, he also served as a training officer, and Public Information Officer at various times during his career. He also was an officer for Local 2544 of the National Border Patrol Council starting off as a shop steward in 2000, eventually moving up to Vice President (approximately 2003) before leaving the Border Patrol in February 2006.

Mr. James joined Friends of the Border Patrol soon after leaving the patrol as a Senior Consultant to continue working to secure the borders and assist his fellow law enforcement agents. In 2008 Mr. James was elected as an at-Large Director of the FoBP Board. One of the new freedoms Mr. James has enjoyed is the regained freedom to speak his mind without fear for his job due to the "gag order" all Border Patrol agents still face.

Mr. James completed his studies at a Midwestern law school in May 2008, with which he plans to continue to assist law enforcement officials by utilizing his previous law enforcement experiences and law degree. In addition to several media appearances, he has been quoted in numerous popular and academic articles concerning the situation on the U.S. - Mexico border, and also had his comments included in the congressional record.
